Enterprise pilot kickoff checklist
A serious pilot should not begin with vague success. Before kickoff, define the scope, owners, risks, dependencies, and decision criteria the buyer will use.
Kickoff items to confirm
- Pilot objective and in-scope users, workflows, or teams.
- Buyer owner, vendor owner, technical owner, and escalation path.
- Success criteria, baseline, target, and measurement method.
- Data, security, AI-use, and integration boundaries.
- Decision meeting date and possible outcomes.
Separate activity from success
A pilot can be busy and still inconclusive. Define what the buyer will count as a useful result before the first work session.
Close the loop before expansion
Before asking for expansion, prepare a closeout summary that shows what was tested, what was learned, what remains open, and what decision the buyer is being asked to make.
